audacity causes Mic/pre amp crackling on startup?

audacity causes Mic/pre amp crackling on startup?
I just got an Art Tube MP studio usb pre amp and a new CAD condenser. I can use it with cooledit pro and other softs. But once i start audacity i hear crackling through my headphones. I even change soundcards (I have 2). I then close audacity and change my settings back, now the crackling stops. Open audacity and boom crackling. tried with multiple reinstallations of audacity 2.0.

No, probably not. You "reinstall" Audacity by management of the preferences file, not by blowing the program away.tried with multiple reinstallations of audacity 2.0.
