How can I sync my drum machine via midi/usb?

How can I sync my drum machine via midi/usb?
I'm looking to use the play/record/stop buttons on Audacity to control the play/stop on my drum machine. the drum machine can only interface via midi (5 pin). is there a special program or patch I'll be needing?

Audacity does not speak MIDI. That's a Feature Request for a future version.

Is there an interface device that can convert Audacity's language to midi? I just need to send commands FROM Audacity TO the midi drum machine.
