Removing Spectral Noise

Audacity v3.2.1 @ Win10 Home

Family gave me some old cassette tapes from the 70’s they want digitized. Due to age and deterioration or perhaps a cheap and crappy recorder, the audio has a popping noise throughout the length of the tape. The noise is apparent in the spectrograph as hot vertical banding (see attached photo), but I cannot figure out how to blend or reduce these artifacts. There are perhaps hundreds, if not a few thousand instances throughout this 90 min tape. Manually selecting and remediating is out of the question. I need a way to easily? isolate and minimize. I also realize that perhaps this task is not possible with Audacity. It keeps surprising me so who knows.

I’ve confirmed the issue is with the tape and not introduced during the digitizing process.

Thanks in advance!!
