switched to new laptop ad my audacity playback keeps on buffering

Hello everyone I’m not super tech savvy and Dyslectic so sorry if this is not written the best.
i use audacity to edit a podcast and i would always work from my work desktop but i switched now to laptop because i had to give my desktop back. but my audio keeps on stopping in play back it feels like it is trying to buffer. this laptop had better specs then the desktop i was using but it is quite annoying any ideas on how to fix this i am using Audacity 3.1.3

A few things:

  1. My experience is that laptops are always slower than desktops even with the same specs. Look it up.

  2. What happens when you disconnect entirely from the internet?

  3. What happens when you also close all other programs?
