mixing different recordings

Hi everybody.

My Audacity version is 3.0.2

I need to replace part of an old recording with a new one, made with a different microphone in a different environment.
So they sound different.
How can I use the old recording settings to make the new one sound the same?
Is there a way?

Thanks in advance
Jordie

You’ll probably never get a match. You should try to match the volumes and maybe you can adjust the “tone” with the Equalizer.

Then hopefully you can find a “good place” to splice-in and splice-out the different section so maybe it sounds intentional. Usually, it’s best to splice with a crossfade. That can be just a few milliseconds so it’s not really noticeable or a little longer where you can hear the overlap, whatever sounds best.
