Is there a way to expand the display of the waveform?
It standard shows only half the page or so.
I would like the preference to see it in full view.
Now I have to drag it any time I start recording.
Which direction do you want to expand it?
To expand vertically:
“View menu > Track Size > Fit to Height”
If you mean horizontally, there are many ways to zoom horizontally: Zooming Overview - Audacity Manual

I wanted the vertical expansion.
Unfortunately the preferences won’t safe that setting?
There’s a setting in Preferences to do that automatically. See “Auto-fit track height”: Tracks Preferences - Audacity Manual

It seems to take effect the next time a track is created on an empty window.
