Audacity locks up when trying to save

Help for Audacity on Windows.

Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Has worked fine since my last post, then windows update and it's locking up again. :(

Are you using Japanese or similar language at all?

@ Steve, yes I use Japanese since I live in Japan. However, after installing the latest version then uninstalling that because it locked up, installing 2.3 with the same problem and then re-installing 2.4.2 it's back to working normal now. This was an update problem.
