Can't record from the second input of my audio interface
I can't record from the second XLR input of my audio interface. I've tried changing the options in the 'preferences' in edit menu. On my second laptop it's working fine. Pliz help
Re: Can't record from the second input of my audio interface
Make sure that both Windows and Audacity are configured for 2-channel stereo. [Corrected - Thanks, Jademan!]

Re: Can't record from the second input of my audio interface
Both audacity and windows are set at 2 channels stereo. I have checked the recording meter on the sound dialog box in windows. The meter jumps green when I talk on the microphone but it appears that audacity doesn't detect. I'm using Windows 10 and audacity 2.1.3

Macs have a thing called Audio MIDI Setup where you can mess with sound channels. I'm not a Windows elf.

Which chat program are you using? Skype, Zoom, WeChat, etc? They all take over the sound services on your machine. Have you ever used one or more of these on this machine?
If it's still reluctant, disconnect the network or shut down the WiFi and try it again. See what complains.
I only know of one outright refusal of service. Audacity historically doesn't do anything to the input signal. Sometimes if you cross Stereo/Mono by accident, Audacity will refuse the connection—full stop. There is no "only recording the left channel." That's very much something Zoom might pull.

Do a clean shutdown. Shift+Shutdown > Wait > Start. Not Restart and not regular Shutdown. While its coming back up, Do Not let anything else start. On my second laptop it's working fine.
