I am having problems with the recording level on Audacity. I had no problems on my previous lap top, but now I have change to a LENOVO ThinkPad X1 running Windows 10, I cannot get a good recording level. It is way to quiet.
Upping the instrument's volume just results in distortion. I am using a Blackstar ID Core 20 as an input device for recording guitar, both electric and acoustic with a USB connection. I am using the Insider app for the amp as updated Architect app does not register.
Also, only one of the USB ports will allow audio input but both show that the ID CORE is connected. Anyone got a solution.

Re: Audacity 2.4.2 and Blackstar ID CORE 20
The ADC (analog-to-digital converter) is inside the amp and you normally have to adjust/control the analog volume before it's digitized.
You can boost after recording with the Amplify effect but if it's WAY to low there could be other issues.
Does turning-up the amp make the recording louder?
Did the Architect app work on your old computer?

Does either of those have a recording volume control? That might be how the analog level into the ADC is supposed to be controlled.I am using the Insider app for the amp as updated Architect app does not register.

Also, did you read this part on pager 18 of the ID Core Handbook:Johnny-Bintang wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 2:21 pmI cannot get a good recording level. It is way to quiet.

I hope this helps.USB Recording Level – Tap + Gain
As stated in the USB Audio section (see page 15), the output level of the USB audio
signal from your ID:Core amplifier can be controlled independently of your amplifier’s
speaker volume by holding down the Tap switch (11) whilst turning the Gain control
(3) on the front panel.

Thanks for all the information. I think you have pointed me in the right direction......
RTFM! (Read the..............manual!)
I will get back to you if I get no joy from pressing tap and twisting gain!
