Post by kyliejourney » Wed Feb 03, 2021 11:51 am

Hello! I'm new to Audacity. I'm on Windows 8.1
If I want to make a gradual sound attenuation in a file in Audacity - how to do it?

If you want to attenuate down to silence, use the "Fade Out" effect (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/fad ... linearfade)
or the "Studio Fade Out" effect (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/fad ... io_fadeout)

If you want to fade to a lower level but not to silence, you could either use the "Adjustable Fade" effect (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/adj ... _fade.html) or the "Envelope Tool" (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/envelope_tool.html)
