since doing a windows update 3 weeks ago audacity wont record properly.. the record is jerky and pauses while trying to record... ive tried uninstalling ive tried different earlier audacity download ive even done a restore point to before the update...nothing.. im at mt whits end i used to use it all the time for recording// any ideas or help would be great. thank you

Which version of Audacity are you using? (Look in "Help menu > About Audacity")
Are you using the same recording / playback devices as previously? What are they?

Sometimes there are update errors or the update is incomplete. Go to Windows > Settings then check for updates (again).
Most people have better luck with the most recent version of Audacity. Currently, it is 2.4.2. https://www.audacityteam.org/download/
Consider the possibility that it was a coincidence and not related to the update. What would you check then ?
