Help for Audacity on Windows.

Error loading recording device.

Hey! I recently got a new microphone and audio interface and I’ve tried setting it up with audacity, but to no luck... I’ve been encountering this error for a couple of hours now, I have tried some other ‘fixes’ but unfortunately none of them worked for my situation.

I am using a Rode AI-1 interface with the Rode A-1 microphone. My computer recognizes the microphone and so does Audacity: I can record a single track, but whenever I hit shift+R the “Error opening recoding device” error pops up...

Any help/tips? Thank you for your time!

A couple of things to try:
  • 1. Are you using Audacity 2.4.2 ?
  • 2. Try just using "R".
  • 3. Check that all of your sample rates match. In Audacity (lower left corner). In Windows: right-click speaker icon in taskbar in lower right-hand corner > Sounds > Recording Tab > (click your device) > Properties > Advanced > Default Format.
  • 4. Try different hosts: MME, Windows DirectSound, WASAPI
