Rocksmith usb adaptor -- no volume change

Post by RoseisRose » Sun Dec 20, 2020 4:17 am

Hi there,

I recently obtained a Rocksmith USB guitar adaptor. I plugged it into my guitar and my laptop. The computer recognizes that there's a new device, but when I strum it, nothing happens to indicate that it's connected . (The volume stays the same.) The same thing happened in audacity. Audacity recognized that there was a new device, but when I went to record and tried strumming it, there was no change in the sound wave. Any thoughts?

Thanks and happy almost solstice! :)

Don't forget to check the guitar side. Does the guitar work through an amp? Check the battery on the guitar, and if it has a battery, don't leave it plugged in!

I hope this helps. :D

In Audacity you need to select the USB device as your Recording Device.

Then if you want to monitor yourself through the computer turn-on Software Playthrough. But, there is normally latency (delay) through the computer so if your interface has a built-in headphone jack to bypass the computer, use that. (The Berhinger UCG102 has zero-latency direct-hardware interfaces, as do many interfaces. ...I don't own one of those so I'm not personally recommending it.)

Windows also has Listen To This Device where you can listen through your computer speakers/headphones without running an application. (But again there may be latency.)
