Can't hear rhythm track

Hi all,
I'm currently running audacity 2.4.2 with windows 8.1. I've connected my recording mic to a Focusrite Scarlet 6i6 audio interface.
My problem is that I can't hear the rhythm track while recording my other tracks. I've connected my headphones to the computer because I dont have an adapter if that's relevant. What am I doing worng?

Your headphones should be plugged into the Focusrite and the Focusrite should be selected for both recording and playback in the Device Toolbar.

Little to big, right? Get the adapter. This isn't just a simple button push or setting. It's the difference between Regular Overdubbing and Perfect Overdubbing. If you listen to the 2i2, it will mix your live voice with the backing track and feed the mix to your headphones. If you listen to Audacity Playthrough, your live voice will arrive with a delay or echo. You can't perform like that, so you will only be able to hear the backing track. You can still overdub, but you'll only hear half the performance.

After you get the adapter, make sure Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_] Playthrough is turned off.

It's common to think that the Audacity Latency Adjustment will take care of the echo. The latency adjustment is recording latency and makes it so when you perform, your live show lands on top of the backing track perfectly.

The headphone echo is machine latency and you're stuck with that.
