Re: Limiter issue? Recorded files being capped?
I am recording from a turntable via RCA cables connected a mixer preamp (DAK) to my laptop.

This one? There's no USB connection, right? You're plugged-into the analog mic input on your computer?connected a mixer preamp (DAK) to my laptop.
You need a line-input. It's usually color-coded blue on a regular soundcard (in a desktop/tower computer). Most laptops only have mic-in and headphone-out. A line-level audio signal is about 100 times stronger than a mic signal. And the mic input is usually mono.
You can get a USB audio interface with line-inputs. There are a couple of suggestions on this page. Do NOT buy a regular "USB soundcard". They are like laptops with only mic-in and headphone-out.
