Audacity 2.42

I downloaded a video file from YouTube, converted it to .mp3 and then attempted to use Audacity to edit it. When I imported the file the following error message appeared.............mp3 decoding failed...bad audio data length. Is this a function of You Tube downloads?

I suppose the first item is the version. The current version is 2.4.2. Versions from other makers may change the numbers around a bit. Those are different programs.

How? That step is the most likely to cause problems.

Thanks for the help. I'm surprised because the mp3 will play on any of my audio players.
