If Audacity can covert the MIDI to payable audio - then surely it must be pretty straightforward to render it into an audio track ?
It's "possible", but certainly not trivial. Currently Audacity has no built in MIDI synth and relies on external hardware or software to render MIDI data as audio, so the first part of the job would be to add a built-in MIDI synth so that Audacity can directly access the output data.
The free MIDI Synth Timidity++ is able to render MIDI to WAV, so another workaround would be to render the MIDI to audio first, and then import the WAV file into Audacity for editing.

Thanx. This is something to go on. As you can tell, I'm a novice and making do with whatever I have. I did try playing my keyboard through the JJsequencer and then patched the output from my computer audio port into my DR40, trying to convert it to audio. But that did not work. And, you can tell that I move along like an inch worm. So something will come together. I probably need to learn more about the sequencer first. Does anyone know of a manual for sequencers? I don't even know what else I might need. Should a sequencer be able to handle all of this? There isn't much info for the JJsequencer. Nothing but a very few youtube videos. No manual that I can print up and read.

I'm only asking to use a synthesizer in combination with analog.
I think I made a mistake by saying this. There is no analog sound with any of the equipment I'm using. The Tascam DR40 is a digital recorder. I think I meant to say "to use a synthesizer in combination with
audio."
