Distortion with Audio

Help for Audacity on Windows.

Distortion with Audio

Basic info: I'm using Windows 10 and Audacity version 2.3.2

Now, here me out. I've read a little bit of this website already, and I don't think I've found the answer I needed yet. You see, I make music, and I want to record my voice over my song. But whenever I start recording, my song will suddenly distort and glitch, making it nearly impossible to sing :? . When I stop and play the song back, it's totally fine! I tried everything I gathered from the Internet so far: Lowering the volume of both channels, raising the volume of both channels, messing around with my preferences, etc. It hasn't fixed anything. So, if anyone knows, what do I do? :shock:

I'd really appreciate any feedback, because I'm getting desperate and lost. Thank you!!
