Installation Problem

I am trying to install audacity and get the following error message when I try to run it:

"The Program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-I1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I have no problem downloading the files, I have tried the windows installer and zip files, the most current version (2.3.1) and an old version (2.3.0) and I still get the same error message. Any suggestions? I am using a school laptop, could it be some sort of restriction on the computer?

The problem is that the computer is missing some Windows updates.

Audacity requires "Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 ", which is available from Microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ie/downloa ... x?id=48145

I run Audacity 2.3.0 on Windows 7 (installed on a folder from the downloaded zip file).
Doesn't this mean that "Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 " is already installed on my computer?

Would you please tell me if it doesn't.

Just to be sure I got what you meant, I will have to download "Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 " to install and run 2.3.1.
