2.2.2
I rarely use Audacity but when I do I usually have forgotten a lot of what I learned. I recorded violin music on a camcorder as I have in the past. Instead of sending it to a DVDr I bought a little ezcap converter and sent the music directly to my computer. As I play it I notice the sound level is in the red. I've tried a few effects but all they have done so far is to lower the volume and keep the noise. So If someone could give me specific directions to get rid of the "static" I would appreciate it. Thank you.
Forgot, audacity shows high peaks in the work space.

Re: noise
If it's clipped (distorted) you can try the clip fix effect, but that may not fix the distorted sound.I notice the sound level is in the red.
If you have a digital camcorder you should be able to digitally copy the audio/video file to your computer. Or if you have a VHS camcorder the DVD recorder is worth a try to see if you get better results. Or, does the EZcap software have a recording-volume control? (I have an EZcap, but I can't remember.) Of course, none of that will help if the original sound quality is poor.bought a little ezcap converter and sent the music directly to my computer
...I'm surprised that a violin is so loud. Does your camcorder have automatic volume control? Automatic volume control can mess-up the sound, especially music.
Acoustic instruments are difficult to record, mainly because of the ambient room noise

More help please
I have an older handycam and for some reason the direct copy to the computer does not work. I'm asking also if anyone knows a way to lower the intake volume on the camera.
