Hello everyone,

I am encountering a recurring sound problem that I can't get rid of. I am not sure why my Rode Mic is picking up this sound. I am using Rode NT-USB Versatile Studio-Quality USB Microphone. I attached a sample.

I would appreciate your advice on how to avoid producing this sound when recording audio podcasts and how to get rid of it once recorded. Since it occurs during the speech, noise reduction did not work.

I really appreciate your help as I haven't been able to find a solution myself.

I don't hear anything wrong. Can you describe the sound? Also, you can post up to ten seconds of stereo (two blue waves). Sometimes longer lets us get a better sense of the work.

Hi Koz,

I attached a new sample for your review. It sounds as if I poke microphone, in the middle and end of the sample. I can remove it when I can get hold of the noise, but sometimes it is in the word spoken and I cant clean it.

There is one "easy " thing wrong. You're too loud.

View > Show Clipping. That will put thin red lines over all the blue waves that are too loud—that reach all the way to one in either direction. Those are the areas where Audacity stopped accurately following your voice and has distorted sound.



I hear it. There's one pop at 1.6 seconds and two at 2.8 seconds.

Do they appear if you start to record, but don't say anything?

There is an abrupt change, as occurs with skipping, which is a digital-glitch, not a real-world sound.

Thanks for your reply. No, it only appears when I start talking, not before and only around twice during a 10 minute podcast. So, does it mean that I need to speak more quietly? If so, the podcast is going to be too quiet.

I can't hear anything wrong with that one.

All your audio here has a lot of infrasound.
infrasound isn't audible, but can create audible problems when the sound is processed,
so it should be filtered-out with a rumble-filter before any other processing ...
