Using multiple vst effects at the same time?

Post by CraigMac » Wed Nov 21, 2018 4:38 pm

Salutations, new to the board. I have a quick question. I use Audacity to record my bands demos. This time around, I have multiple vst plugins (guitar amps and pedals). I was curious if it is possible to use multiple effects at once. For example, a distortion pedal with an amp? Much like a real set up. Or is it limited to just applying one effect at a time? Thanks in advance.

It's one effect at a time, though you can create a "Macro" to automatically apply effects one after the other. See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/macros.html

There are free standalone VST hosts where you can chain multiple VST effects,
then record the output of that host with Audacity.
