Recording

Windows 10
Audacity 2.2.2
Newly acquired mixer Yamaha mg10xuf and using USB interface to connect with computer.
Playing music okay but when trying to add a recording to a backing track on Audacity the meter is indicating that the sound is reaching the computer but is not recording on the added track. Can anyone offer suggestions please. ronbow

Have you tried a “simple” recording without the backing track?

Yes…not recording…just straight line signal.
Equipment:
Yamaha mixer MG10XUF, Windows 10, Audacity 2.2.2, Wireless Microphone Behringer Ultralink ULM300RD

Settings in Audacity:

  1. MME - (other options / Windows DirectSound or Windows WASAPI)
  2. Line (MG-XU) - (other options/ Microsoft Sound Mapper Input or Microsoft High Definition Aud)
  3. Mono Recording - (other options / Stereo Recording)
  4. Line (MG-XU) - (other options / Microsoft Sound Mapper output or Digital Audio (S/PDIF High De) or Speaker High Definition Audio)

Recording Settings in Windows:
Microphone - High Definition Audio Device - Ready and leds working
Microphone - High Definition Audio Device - Not plugged in
Line in - High Definition Audio Device - Not plugged in
Line MG-XU Default Device set as default…use enabled…but leds seem dormant

Current State
/ Sound from computer plays through mixer to speakers
/ Sound from Microphone plays through mixer to speakers
/ Sound from Audacity plays through mixer to speakers
X When attempting to record the leds in Audacity flash to indicate that the sound is getting through BUT will not record no matter what permutations I try

Hope information is sufficient for you to put me on the right track
Thanks
