Could not find audio devices-port audio error

Help for Audacity on Windows.

I get this message when launching, whild my sound cards work perfectly with all othe apps...

Audacity may not find your audio device if another application has grabbed exclusive control of the device (Skype is notorious for grabbing exclusive control of the recording device).

Try rebooting your computer, then check that there are no audio applications that have started up on boot (such as Skype), then try launching Audacity. Does it start now without the error?

That might be related to a recent change Microsoft made to the privacy settings. See here: viewtopic.php?f=46&t=100117
