Where is the version 2.1.1?

I am looking for version 2.1.1.
(Both Windows and Mac. Also both installer and zip if possible.)

The download page says:
OldFoss hosts the current Audacity version and all previous versions from 2.1.2 onwards.
Google Code hosts selected previous versions up to and including Audacity 2.0.5.
Can not I download version 2.1.1 anymore?
Can I get the genuine version at following pages?

https://www.filehorse.com/download-audacity/old-versions/
https://mac.filehorse.com/download-audacity/old-versions/

Any help would be appreciated.

For Mac, Audacity 2.1.1 is available from OldFoss: http://www.oldfoss.com/Audacity.html
FossHub / OldFoss is the only official download partner for Audacity. There may be genuine versions of Audacity on other sites, but they are not endorsed or tested by the Audacity team.

Why do you need / want such an old version of Audacity?

Thank you for your reply!

I am a Japanese.
In 2015-2016, I wrote a commentary on Audacity in Japanese.

Recently, I was told from the publisher that my book will be reprinted.
But because I wrote about the version 2.1.1, there is a part that does not match the latest version.

I can not rewrite the book overall.
So at least I want to tell readers the method of obtaining the version 2.1.1.
(Especially for beginners who can not understand unless the book and their environment are the same.)

In the first edition of my book, I wrote “You can download all the old versions from OldFoss.”, but it already has be incorrect at this time…

“screen reader accessible” version is normal version?

It would be MUCH better to update your book rather than giving bad advice to new users by telling them to use an old version of Audacity.

Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately, I (we) can not completely rewrite the book.
Of course, I will tell readers that the latest version is the best.

“screen reader accessible” version of Mac is normal version?

I have the version 2.1.1 for Windows.
If I deleted the Portable Settings folder that I created, and I completely deleted plug-ins, LAME and FFmpeg that I added, it will became the same as a new one, isn’t it?

It is not uncommon for people to publish revised versions of books, or to add an “addendum” to bring a book up to date when the subject matter has changed.

Note that we completely update the Audacity manual for every release: https://manual.audacityteam.org/

Yes that’s the normal version.
Audacity 2.1.1 was re-released for Mac because an updated library used by Audacity caused problems with screen readers on macOS. A lot of work has since gone into the development code to restore screen reader support for the next release.

Thank you for your reply!

I understand that rewriting is desirable.
Also I understand your feelings. Thank you for your advice.

But publishers do not want to make major alterations.
I can only do the work that requested by the publisher.

I am sorry I can not get the best way.
Thank you very much.
