2.2.2 no audio output in monitor or record

2.2.2 no audio output in monitor or record
I can record. When I turn on monitoring, I can see the audio levels change. I can hear the recording in playback. But I can't hear anything through the speakers or headphones when monitor or recording. Using windows 7.
