Just a note for the developers…
2.2.2 seems to have introduced a spurious error message when registering VST plugins.
My video player plugin VidPlayVST32-Audacity.dll registers fine in version 2.1.3.
However, in 2.2.2 it throws…
Effect at C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity 2.2.2\Plug-Ins\VidPlayVST32-Audacity.dll failed to register:
It does not seem to be a valid error message because the plugin appears successfully in the Effect menu and works just fine.
The problem can be repeatedly tested by deleting C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Audacity\pluginregistry.cfg and pluginsettings.cfg, and doing the Plug-in Manager procedure again.
Other plugins, such as Guitar Rig and Gsnap, are being reported with “failed to register” in 2.2.2
