Truncate Silence Processing Time

Trying to Truncate Silence on a 5hour recording. So far is has been 25hours “Applying Truncate Silence” and the “Remaining Time” says 10 hours to go.

I am not using the computer for anything else. It has an Intel Core i5-2400 cpu @ 3.10GHz, 8GB Ram, 64-bit Windows 7 Pro.

Audacity 2.2.2, I can’t post jpg files?

why so slow??

Are you running out of disk space?

Has the project been saved? If it has, then check the available space on the drive where the project is saved. If the project has not been saved, check the available space on the system drive.

Running 2.2.2 on my W10 laptop with SSD - I ran Truncate Silence on a 5 hour project and it ran in about 25 seconds

100 GB free on my C drive. Project has not been saved. It finished after 50 hours. Any thoughts? i am doing several of these 5 hour recordings, and each one is taking longer than the last.

What settings are you using in Truncate Silence?

-50dB, duration: .001, Truncate to: 0 secconds

That will be why it is slow. The effect is having to analyze 18 million tiny chunks of audio (1 ms into 5 hours).
