Raindrop recording background effects

Post by kostamegas » Tue May 05, 2009 4:39 am

Hi, I'm trying to record background efects with a program called Raindrop that I want playing in the background.
I'm trying to figure out how to do this with Audacity but it doesn't seem to be "hearing" the background effects.
When I record, nothing ends up being recorded.
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Oh. I think I see. You just want to record the effect period. What kind of computer do you have?

Hi thanks for your response.
I want to record a background sound effect and my voice over it.
I'm having trouble recording the background sound effect track.
My voice track is coming out ok but when I save it in Audacity's format I can only reopen it in short (10 second) increments, do you know why this is?
I'm using a Sony Vaio laptop.
Thanks for any help.

So I was right the first time.

You might be able to get this effect by recording the computer's Mix-Out or What U Hear. This is buried in the Windows control panels unless you have Vista.

Windows Control Panel

Hoever, typically, you can't do two things at once, so you might need to record the three minutes of rain and mix that in with your voice later.

Full or fragmented hard drive? Audacity will not work into either one.

Oh, wait. Audacity doesn't have a "Format" and it doesn't save sound files. Audacity saves Projects which are multiple files -- sometimes thousands -- some audio, some not.

Export your performance as WAV to get a stand-alone sound file you can use for further production and editing.
