I have started using Audacity and have a question about bitrates.
I loaded a track that I wanted to edit that was at 128 bps and when I saved it after editing and replacing the original it had changed it to 320 bps.
Surely it cant improve the tracks bps so what has it done to now show as 320.
Bitrate question.

Re: Bitrate question.
Are you talking about MP3 and kbps?Sputnick007 wrote:I have started using Audacity and have a question about bitrates.

If you don't want to export MP3 at 320 kbps, click the Options... button after selecting "MP3 Files" in the export dialogue and change it to your preferred bit rate:
[mp3opt][/mp3opt]
Audacity has no means of automatically exporting at the same bit rate as an imported MP3, therefore if you overwrite an MP3 the bit rate and hence the file size may change.
