Can and how do I level the total volume of the total file without doing small samples over and over?
New to this... Lee

You can try Effect > Leveler... which is easy to use but you will only get a small amount of leveling before you start to hear distortion.

Otherwise try Effect > Compressor... or you can try a third-party compressor plug-in (see http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Compr ... lternative).
