Stretching Sounds

Post by kathryn » Thu Dec 18, 2008 11:25 am

Hi, I am looking for some help!
I have a track which I would basically like to slow right down so would need to stretch the sound. Does anybody know if that is something I can do on audacity? I have been trying but so far unsuccessfully!
Thanx.

Edit > Select > All.

Effect > Change Tempo
-or-
Effect > Change Speed.

I think one of then affects musical pitch and the other one doesn't.

"Change Tempo" will change the speed but will (try) to keep the pitch the same. You will notice some loss in sound quality with this effect.

"Change Speed" changes both tempo and pitch (just like playing a record or tape at the wrong speed).
