reduce the intensity of this eating sound effect

is there any way I can reduce the intensity of this animal eating sound effect to make it sound less intense, more normal eating, less gorey sounding, like gate the intensity of it or something in Audacity???

How about making it a lot less loud?
Amplify by -24 dB (minus 24)

Steve's Limiter can selectively attenuate the louder peaks, (a form of
dynamic range compression) ...

In addition to forgetting your manners you probably forgot to put the "Make-up Gain" to zero ...

Are you saying that Noise Gate provides the effect that you want?
