I installed Audacity a few days ago and I'm really happy with it
I've been cutting and pasting parts of files and exporting them to mp3 format without problems. But now I want to begin playing with effects on my mp3 files, like fade-in, fade-out, bass boost, etc. but the effects menu is always disabled (grayed out). How can I get this menu to work?
Thanks in advance

All you need to do is to select some audio - then the Effect will not be greyed out and can be applied to the selected section.
To select the whole track - use Ctrl+ A
To select part of a track - click and drag with your cursor.

Thanks! It works
I had selected the part before, but just using click and drag and for some reason it didn't work.
