What happened to "Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift"

Hi all. I've tried to do my due diligence and searched the forums, but I can't find an answer to this. On my previous laptop I used to have a version of Audacity that had the "Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift" effect. I found the effect worked very well for changing the pitch of music karaoke tracks for recording, and seemed to have less artifacts than the current "Change Pitch" effect on the 1.2.6 or 1.3.12 versions that I'm running on the replacement laptop system.

Maybe I'm just crazy, but didn't the "Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift" have something to rebuild 'forments' or something that sounds like that? It just sounded better, IMHO.

Anyway, does anyone know how I can find that plugin to add to my current version of Audacity? Short of that, can anyone suggest a high quality pitch shift ap?

If you resample the track to 96000Hz, then apply pitch shift I think less artifacts are created than pitch shift at the normal (44100Hz) sample rate.
You can resample back down (to 44100Hz or whatever) after the pitch shift has been applied.

Like you say "Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift" does a better job than plain old "Change Pitch".

"Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift" is a built-in effect, and should appear above the horizontal line in the Effects menu in all 1.3 releases.

If it is missing in your Audacity, it could be that your preferences file is corrupt.
This file, audacity.cfg, is in your settings folder, and if you click Help > About Audacity > Build information, it will tell you where that folder is.

Delete the audacity.cfg file, and start Audacity again. This effectively re-installs Audacity, and you should have all the built-in effects.
Note, audacity.cfg is a hidden file and, in Windows, you may have to set "show hidden files" to be able to find it.
