Export Multiple

Post by paulnorman » Mon Jan 18, 2010 4:55 pm

I'm having trouble doing Export Multiple.
I have used this system a hundred times successfully, but lately when I have set things up and selected "all" and pressed "Export Multiple" (as MP3 files to my computer) I get the message "Unable to open target file for writing".

Someone suggested a long address might be a problem, but I'm sending it to an area of my system which has a very short address ( C:userspaul) so I don't think that is the problem.

Can anyone explain why I am getting this happening, please ?
Once the message "Unable to open target file for writing" the whole recorded file is useless and I have to start again.

Regards,
Paul norman

Do you have the "/" (forward slash) character in the label? If so, change it to something else, like "-".

Do you have any non-standard characters in your filenames? Use only alphanumeric and dash "-".

And you should really upgrade - 1.2.4 is absolutely ancient - it was replaced by 1.2.6 (the officially stable version) a long while ago. And you should consider the latest Beta 1.3.11 which is pretty mature and stable now. 1.3 is more forgiving with non-standard characters - and you will find labelling a whole lot better in 1.3.

You can get these from: http://audacityteam.org/download/

I had this problem also running 1.2.6. Found this thread for "cannot open target file" with 'Search' http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... arget+file.
Very easy. I had non-compliant characters. !!

:D
