The download went fine but when I tried to play from the recorder, all I get is a fast screeching sound and then nothing.
What is the problem?

You downloaded a song in a digital format that Audacity doesn't understand. It's very common in 1.2 a little less in 1.3. Download six second piano2.wav from here...

Convert your music to WAV in Super or Switch before editing (assuming you're on a PC).
