Cleaning Up Old Film Audio?

Hi,

Would like to use some old films from the US National Archives https://www.youtube.com/user/usnationalarchives/playlists but the audio is quite poor. Not only noise but are very tinny.

Did a check of tips and tutorials and while have found a number of things about noise reduction and vinyl record clicks and pops, did not find anything about cleaning up and re equalizing film sound.

Googled using keywords cleaning up and re equalizing film sound and got ~ 232,000 hits (using “…” got nothing) but to date have not found anything relevant.

Hope some others have cleaned up some old film audio and would share tips and suggestions!

Thanks

Ken
