Is there a way to modify (deamplify) one channel and leave the other channel unchanged?
Modify one channel only
If you’re talking about a stereo show, yes.
Drop-down menu on the left > Split Stereo Track.
Select one track by clicking just right of the up arrow.
Apply the effects.
Top drop-down menu > Make Stereo Track.

One of those options is split to mono. You don’t want that one. You want the Left sound to stay Left while you’re correcting it.
