Powered Monitors?

Is there anything to say these two monitors could not be used together for stereo in my home studio. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LSR305/ and
http://www.ebay.com/itm/JBL-LSR2328PA-8 ... m232f47696 even though one is 8" and other is 5".

No, but the idea of "stereo" is two identical sound channels. If you listen/watch a theatrical presentation where the lead singer goes from one side to the other, you may get a noticeable shift in tone.

The (matched) speakers I'm using sound better to me than the next model larger. I took the larger units home and they didn't make it the evening of listening. Speaker design is not just make the parts smaller.

The dilemma I have is I purchased the 8" new on one of those "Deal of the day" offers for a very low price. Should have bought 2. Now another one is more than double the price and I really don't want to spend that much. My options.
1) Bite the bullet and spend the money.
2) Try to find a used one.
3) Return it and get two 5"

Don't know if another 8" monitor of similar quality, that comes on sale, etc. is an option.

Please advice. Thank you.

No. It has to be model numbers and sometimes even that doesn't work. They redesigned my model a while back to work "much better" and I don't like them as much. I knew what I had and bought three sets while I had them.

If you bought a second 8", you will have paid for both at 1-1/2 price, not 2. That's one half-speaker free.

JBL borrowed innovative elements from their flagship M2 Master Reference Monitors to give the LSR305 incredible sound. The "Image Control Waveguide" design is one such feature, and helps the LSR308 have a deep sound stage as well as great detail. Said another way, not only can you clearly hear everything in your mix, you can also easily place it closer or further back in the mix too.

Checking your mix at low volume levels is a great way to check your overall balance, but many monitors will suffer in the bass regions when dealing with low monitoring levels. The JBL LSR305 uses JBL's patented "Slip Stream" low-frequency port for accurate bass response at low playback levels. The double-flared port shape also reduces the turbulence that some ported designs cause, meaning that bass response remains pure when you turn the LSR305 back up.
