mic problems

When I plug in my usb mic Imy audio does not work making it impossible to dub over my beats. How do I correct this problem?

That's too vague... you need to give us more info...
Start by saying which operating system you have and which audacity version (Help -> About).
What do you exactly mean by "audio does not work"? You can't listen? You can't record? Be more specific.
To record from usb mic you should connect the mic before opening audacity, then you need to choose the usb device in Preferences -> Devices -> Recording device.
