Hey Wax!
I am in trouble again! I can get the labels to come up,click where I want cursor, name songs 1, 2 3, etc by using pause. After finishing recording, click stop button, export as WAV. but when I send them to WP 11. My Docs.My Music, they are grouped as one file thus I am unable to pick the ones I want. However, the labels do record different segements of a cassette as they should. What's going on?
Please lead me by the hand again! Thanks, Jack

All you need to do is to use the Export Multiple feature - not the simple Export (which will just create the single file. The Export Multiple will allow you to create a set of MP3s, WAVs or whatever - based on the track markers/labels.

Hello again, Wax! Your tip worked. What a dunderhead I am. Audacity is sort of a hard program for a Lone Ranger and for sure I was one! I have it now. My gratitude!
Can you also reopen a tape after you closed it to add other artists? Seems I had another question. LOL Jack

I think what you're asking Jack is:- can I add further recordings to a project after I have hit the stop button.
If that is the the case, then yes you can - just make sure you are at the far right hand end of the project use the >> icon. Then just press record when you are ready. You will notice that this will create a new track below your original track (but after it provided you moved to the end of the previous recording). When you have finished you can eaithe just add your labels and export multiple - the export will work on multiple tracks - or you can do a mix and render 1.3 in 1.3 or Project/Qqickmix in 1.2 to get the mutiple tracks merged into a single stereo pair.

Hey Wax!
Got another little question. When I copied additional music, I noted that some numbers were 2, and others -2, etc. Could you tell me what's going on there? Thanks, Jack

I don't understand this last posting - you will need to clarify.

Sorry about that Wax!
What I was asking was I recorded some songs on a CD-R and decided to add some more. I did so as you previously recommended using labels 1, 2, 3 etc, and sent them to a folder in my Music. When I opened the folder, the songs were there but some of the numbers I used for identity had a minus in front of the number whereas another would have the number without a minus.
I was wondering what I did wrong since the minus signs appeared before some selections. That is all. Hope I am clear to you now.
Thanks, Jack

jackobean,
Did you have any labels with the same name in that project? If you do that, Audacity appends "-2", "-3", etc. to the end of the file name. Is that what you mean?

That is what probably happened. The first string recorded was numbers 1 thu +++++ and then the seond string also started with the same numbers. The next time I want to add, I will use numbers for the first string, and after I hit end and if I want a second string, I will use alphabet letters.
Thanks again, old friend! Jack
