Does anyone have any recommendations for a recording mic I can plug into my laptop that works with audacity and will record me playing congas and also my daughter playing the flute pretty well, without all the high expense costs?

I've got a Blue Yeti Mic and I record a live band with it for rehersals.
It took a couple of rehersals to get it to sound good but I am pretty happy witht he results.
I tried to upload a recording for you but the file (MP3) is too big.

The forum has a limited ability to host files. If you want to post a major concert, you should do it on one of the free posting web sites.

I actually use a "Guitar Hero" mic intended for the XBox 360.
It has a USB plug and records clean, clear audio.
