Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

lp s ripp

Post by lturudic » Thu Jan 13, 2011 3:02 pm

Hi,
I ask those who have experience with ripp lp.
Personally I like as little as possible to edit the original sound.
Audacity using two or three days and I am thrilled.

I've done the following:
1st high pass filter at 20 Hz, 24 dB attenuation, and filter quality of 12 dB / oct
2nd Click removel with standard values
3rd Dynamic range compresor with standard values
4th Normalize to standard values

Of course, export to WAV and CD sounds great.
I tried noise removal, but still we can degrade the sound. I will try to trick noise amplification.

I pray for all the advice from more experience

Applying dynamic range compression (which effect are you using?) will certainly alter the sound. But if you are happy with the result, that is fine.

Which version of Audacity are you using? The Noise Removal effect is much improved in 1.3.12 over 1.2.x.

I find that Brian Davies's ClickRepair and DeNoise are more effective than the tools in Audacity. http://www.clickrepair.net/ The software is not free but has a 21 day trial period.

Bill you're right for the dynamic range compresor. At first it seemed OK but at louder listening is not OK.
Luckily I have dealt with only two albums that will be difficult to replicate.

I will try to clickrepair, thanks for the info.

What effects you are using, which is the order in which settings.

thanks for post
