Recording a cassette

I am having trouble getting setup to record from a cassette. Any suggestions?

I personally would have posted in one of the machine or Audacity version forums up above. Down here, we're just going to have to start asking you what computer you have, which operating system, which Audacity, which cassette player.....

Don't be fuzzy, either. Part numbers are good.

I just used a 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable and went from the headphone output on the tape player to the line in on my computer. Selected line in on the drop down menu in audacity and pressed play on the tape player and record on audacity. Simple as that and worked perfectly

I'm a newbie to this stuff, so didn't know the proper procedure to asking questions. Will try to be more specific in the future.

I take the RCA outputs from the back of my tapdeck and feed that into the RCA inputs of my external USB soundcard.
