Question about what I'm Recording...

Hey Guys,

I'm having an issue with my recording equipment. I took it to the store to get it tested, they looked at the MIc (which is an Audio Technica AT2020), they looked at my Fast Track Pro, and they looked at the wire. We tried a couple different Mics and it all seemed to be pretty standard, I uploaded the WAV File below (because I'm worried MP3 might compress that noise...) in hopes someone out there can identify the issue. When I record my voice, I'm getting some kind of buzzing on the low frequency. Can anyone else hear it? And how can I get rid of that noise?

Only fault* I can hear is mic popping (e.g. on the "Eh" of Erin and "p" in problem), this can be prevented with a pop shield in front of the microphone ...

(pony-tail is optional).

A home made pop shield can be as good as store-bought ... http://www.hometracked.com/2006/05/28/h ... p-filters/
NB: the pop shield is not attached to the mic stand, it has its own stand.

[* Although the original file did have a giant spike that took several attempts to repair, I've never had to do that before}

Maybe it's just my speakers or sound card then but there was definitely some static noise in the low frequence when i went over it...

The last 10 seconds of this 20 second track are totally silent

if you can hear static hiss or buzz when you play the silent bit then it's due to your hardware (not Audacity or other software).
