Recording from multiple UCA202's

I have 2 UCA202 audio interfaces. Each one works fine in 2 channels with Audacity 1.2.6 individually, by switching between 2 USB audio drivers with the same name. (USB Audio CODEC & USB Audio CODEC[2])

I wish to record 4 channels simultaneously. Any idea how to do this? When I select 4 channels in Audacity 1.2.6 Edit-Prefs-Audio I/O it will error when the red record button is selected. The error is "Error when opening sound device - check........"

I am on XP SP2, IBM R40e laptop, 2 x USB 1 ports

Thanks

Geoff

The basic issue is that Audacity will only recognise one device to record from.

The only way to record 4 channels is to have a sound card with 4 inputs that is seen as a single device. Multiple-channel cards which present the channels as multiple devices will not work.
For example, if you have an 8-channel card which is seen as four 2-channel devices, Audacity will only record 2 channels at a time from it.
