Microphone Help

Post by mccoolwhip » Sun Oct 11, 2009 2:30 am

Alright so I have been recording on audacity with my M-Audio Producer USB microphone and I have never had a problem with it. I recently had to reinstall the program and now whenever I try to record the microphone picks up everything and even quiet talking goes off the chart. I tried putting down the input volume but it sounds distorted and clips and that is never good. I tried a different microphone and that microphone does not have this problem. Could it be the program or the actual hardware?

Thanks in advance!

Or the software. M-Audio equipment uses ASIO software and that's not directly supported by Audacity because of licensing problems.

You posted in a part of the forum where we can't tell anything about you. Microphone model numbers, type of computer, operating system and version, version of Audacity? Fill in the holes.
