One more item please...

1.3.8 - I have a folder on my desktop for this plugin and the folder contains a copy of the lame.dll

the sad thing is I cannot find the Export as mp3 option on this later version as I had on the 1.2 It was fine on 1.2. I had the option of WAV or MP3 to go at.

What am I missing Do I need to download a different lame file for this 1.3.8 which doesn't ask me "where is the lame file located"

I would rather learn to drive Audacity on the later 1.3.8 vers

Audacity 1.3.8 takes a very specific lame download. I can't tell which one because you didn't tell us which computer you have.

Hi there thanks for your reply - I didn't get a notification that you had replied even though I checked "Notify me..."

My PC is very bog standard desktop and I am running XP with my preferred Firefox internet browser.

I would be most grateful if you could point me in the right direction to download/server for the appropriate LAME file/s, or even the instructions for noobies like me

There is a known problem wiith these notifications under the current s/w that is used for the forum.

Can you help me with the correct lame.dll file for 1.3.8 release.

I am OK with the earlier 1.2.6 version with a lame.dll saved in my 'Audacity recordings' holding folder on my Desktop on the PC XP/Firefox

Is it possible you're just looking in the wrong place?

File > Export > Export As... (on the bottom).

Did you download a new lame library with the new Audacity, or are you trying to use the old Audacity 1.2 lame.

Hi I have sorted it - thank the Lord!

I was put off by the Metadata Editor prior to the 'Export Save in' dialog box...it wasn't until I unchecked the box which

reads...

Show Metadata Editor prior to export step in the Import Export preferences. You see I was looking for the option in

File>Export>option of WAV or mp3 as in the 1.2.6 version it now shows;

C:Program FilesLame for Audacitylame_enc.dll

I had to re-install Audacity 3 or 4 time because my PC kept 'remembering' the lame_enc.dll location which was part of my original

1.2.6 set up which I had previously re-vamped when I learned how to use and record in stereo i.e. two channels

Anyway all's well that ends well. I will now go higher up the learning curve abd return as and when.
