greetings,
hopefully i'm writing this in the correct forum..
i record a 2 hour radio show (off the air ) with Audacity every Saturday....some Saturdays i have to go out before it starts so i have to start recording early....(today i went out extra early and came back extra late so i had a 7 hour recording trim the top and tail of...and i had to clear a bit of hard drive space the night before as i didn't know how long i'd be) is there a way to set a timer to start and stop recording?? or is that something to put in the "new features please" section..
cheers and thanks in advance..

Re: Timer recording
There is a Timer Record feature which the developers have kindly added in 1.3.x - access by Track > Timer Record or the k/b shortcut Shift+T
It does usually work well, just be a little wary - there is a known but inconsistent bug whereby sometimes the end-time of the recording is not honoured by Audacity and the recording just keeps on going. Just make sure you have plenty of disk space in case this happens.
